I saw this CSS effect on Wes Bos and wanted to try it myself. I'm not a web developer by any means, and I thought, since many non-3D artists are using AI to compete for my jobs, it’s my turn to see how far I can get without relying on someone who knows how to code.
I started with Grok and quickly achieved some really cool results. However, it wasn’t entirely straightforward—there was a lot of trial and error, and it took some skill to figure out how to ask the right questions and specify exactly what I wanted as an output.
I'm pretty satisfied with the results! I also integrated it for mobile and made it customizable so it can work for any dimension. I created some custom images for the overlays, and now I have a slick holo card effect as a custom section on Shopify.
If anyone wants to know how its done, this developer did a breakdown:

For some holo gradients I used the free version of indieground. They have very cool textures.
